Model name grok-imagine-1.5-lite/image-to-video
Type Video generation (image-to-video)
Endpoint POST /v1/tasks
Pricing See HiAPI Pricing

Production guidance

Production guidance
  • For production, pass callback.url at the top level of the request body so HiAPI can notify your service when the task reaches a terminal state.
  • GET /v1/tasks/:id is better for local debugging, low-volume jobs, or fallback reconciliation if a callback is missed.
  • Use callback.when=final. Both success and fail are terminal states, so your service should deduplicate by taskId.

Best suited for

Animate a still image

Use an existing image and add subject motion, camera moves, and atmosphere.

image_urlprompt
Keep the original framing

Composition follows the input image and the aspect ratio approximately matches it; no ratio setting needed.

image_url
Resolution tiers

480p for drafts, 720p for everyday content, 1080p for higher-detail delivery.

Example requests

A surfer on a breaking wave

Image-to-video example with one input image at 6 seconds, 720p.

Request body
{
  "model": "grok-imagine-1.5-lite/image-to-video",
  "input": {
    "prompt": "The wave curls and breaks behind the surfer as he carves down its face, white spray bursts and sparkles in the golden backlight, water rushes past. Smooth tracking camera following the surfer. Loud ocean surf and rushing water. Keep the photo realistic. No text, no logos.",
    "image_url": "https://dev-static.hiapi.ai/model-onboarding/grok-imagine-1.5-lite/2026/10/16/1792144202117-54aa29a700fa9530-surf-in.png",
    "duration": 6,
    "resolution": "720p"
  }
}

Getting the result

  1. The response returns a taskId immediately without waiting for generation to finish.
  2. In production, prefer waiting for callback.url to receive the terminal notification. For local debugging, poll GET /v1/tasks/:id.
  3. When status=success, download the generated video from output[].url.
  4. When status=fail, fix the request based on the returned error instead of retrying the same invalid payload.

FAQ

What determines the output aspect ratio?

It approximately follows the image_url image's aspect ratio (pixel dimensions may be rounded), so this model has no aspect_ratio parameter.

Can I pass more than one image?

No. image_url accepts the public URL of exactly one image.

Does the video include sound?

Yes. Each clip is generated with sound that matches the scene; no extra parameter is needed.

How should I write the prompt?

Describe the motion and camera movement to add; there is no need to restate what the image already shows.

How is it billed?
