FLUX 3 Max vs Kling 3.0 Omni: Which Should You Use?

Two side-by-side prompt tests, an eight-row spec table and scene-by-scene picks; prices are HiAPI list prices.

Pick FLUX 3 Max for 20-second takes, eight aspect ratios and keyframes placed by frame number; pick Kling 3.0 Omni for 4K, reusable subjects and multi-shot output.

FLUX 3 Max is live on HiAPI. Open the model page, type a prompt and generate; new accounts get 200 free credits. Both clips below come from the same prompt, one generation each, so you can open them and compare.

5-s clip$0.304 (720p)$0.50 (720p silent) / $0.645 (720p with audio)

At 720p with audio, FLUX 3 Max runs $0.0608 per second and Kling 3.0 Omni $0.129, about 53% lower. Every price here is the HiAPI rate, billed per second of output; failed tasks are not billed, audio adds nothing to a FLUX 3 Max clip, and text-to-video, image-to-video and keyframes-to-video all share one rate. $10 buys about 32 five-second clips at 720p, and one five-second 720p clip costs $0.304, or 608 credits. What do the two models make from the same prompt?

Both tests use identical prompts at five seconds, 720p, 16:9, with audio on, one generation each.

Test A: rain-soaked Tokyo alley at night

Prompt (same text on both sides, generated once each)

A slow push-in down a rain-soaked Tokyo alley at night; neon signs reflect in puddles, steam rises from a vent, a cyclist crosses the frame in the distance; shallow depth of field, cinematic, no cuts.

Same prompt, five seconds, 720p, 16:9, audio on, one generation each.

FLUX 3 Max moves the camera closer into the alley, packs in more signs, gives the neon more saturation, fills more of the frame with puddle reflections, shows a more visible steam column, and leans purple-warm overall. Kling 3.0 Omni sets a lower and wider camera, shows fewer signs, keeps the palette cool and neutral, gives the puddle reflection a clear shape in a smaller area, and renders the brick joints and drainage channel on the road more distinctly.

Test B: ceramic coffee cup in morning light

Prompt B (same text on both sides, generated once each)

Close-up of a ceramic coffee cup on a wooden table as morning sunlight sweeps across the rim; steam curls upward and drifts, the camera slides slowly sideways, warm highlights move over the glaze; shallow depth of field, no cuts.

Same prompt, five seconds, 720p, 16:9, audio on, one generation each.

FLUX 3 Max frames wider, keeps both cup and saucer in shot, shows the window frame and blurred greenery outside, cuts a band of warm sunlight across the table, and renders steam as a thin line. Kling 3.0 Omni frames tighter, gives the cup body more of the frame, shows the crackle glaze clearly, produces a bigger cloud of steam, and keeps the background darker.

Which one should you use?

  • 20-second single takes and long camera moves → FLUX 3 Max
  • 21:9, 2:1, 4:3, 1:1 or 3:4 framing → FLUX 3 Max
  • Keyframes placed precisely by frame number (1–10 images) → FLUX 3 Max
  • Audio on by default without extra parameters → FLUX 3 Max
  • 4K delivery → Kling 3.0 Omni
  • One subject reused across shots (elements, up to 7) → Kling 3.0 Omni
  • Automatic shot splitting from one prompt (prefer_multi_shots) → Kling 3.0 Omni
  • Vertical 9:16, up to 15 seconds, with sound → either model; at 720p with audio FLUX 3 Max is about 53% lower

How hard is it to switch between them?

Not hard. Both models use the same async endpoint, POST https://api.hiapi.ai/v1/tasks, with the same API key. Both return a taskId, and the result lands in data.output[0].url. Switching touches model and a few input fields:

  • model: swap flux-3-max/text-to-video for kling-3.0-omni/text-to-video.
  • Audio: FLUX 3 Max uses generate_audio (default true); Kling 3.0 Omni uses audio (default false), so write true when you want sound.
  • Aspect ratio: FLUX 3 Max exposes 8 values and accepts auto; Kling 3.0 Omni exposes 3 (16:9, 9:16, 1:1) and defaults to 16:9.
  • Duration and resolution: FLUX 3 Max covers 5–20 seconds at 720p or 1080p; Kling 3.0 Omni covers 3–15 seconds at 720p, 1080p or 4K.
  • Kling 3.0 Omni adds elements and prefer_multi_shots; FLUX 3 Max adds reasoning_level and keyframes in keyframes[].

prompt works the same way on both. Full request examples are in the FLUX 3 Max API guide.
