What does the same prompt cost on each tier?
720p, 5 seconds, 16:9, audio on, one run each:
Mini, $0.293. The pour finishes in the first half, then the camera pulls back and ends on the latte on the window-side table. Generate with this prompt →
Fast, $0.886. The pour runs into the middle of the clip, the milk forms circular rings, and the pull-back shows the hand holding the pitcher. Generate with this prompt →
Standard, $1.465. The pour continues to the last frame and the pull-back goes furthest, revealing the barista's hands, apron and the espresso machine behind. It plays out the "pull back to reveal the counter" part of the prompt most fully. Generate with this prompt →
The prompt:
Close-up in a sunlit corner cafe: a barista tilts a small steel pitcher and pours steamed milk into a white ceramic cup, a rosetta latte-art leaf blooming on the coffee surface. The camera starts tight on the cup and slowly pulls back to reveal the wooden counter and a window with morning street light. Soft hiss of the steam wand and gentle cafe chatter in the background. Warm natural color, shallow depth of field, smooth handheld feel.

Requests with a reference video (reference_video_urls) use a separate rate: standard 480p/720p/1080p/4K $0.082 / $0.179 / $0.443 / $0.915 per second, Fast 480p/720p $0.0486 / $0.1072, Mini 480p/720p $0.0172 / $0.0358. Billing counts only the generated seconds (duration): a 5-second standard 720p clip with a reference video is 5 × $0.179 = $0.895. The ext route does not take reference videos.
You pay for successfully generated seconds; failed tasks are refunded automatically. Audio on or off costs the same.
What does a 5- or 10-second clip cost?
| Tier | 5 s | 10 s | $10 buys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini 480p | $0.136 | $0.272 | ~367 s |
| Mini 720p | $0.293 | $0.586 | ~170 s |
| Fast 720p | $0.886 | $1.772 | ~56 s |
| ext 720p | $0.67 | $1.34 | ~74 s |
| Standard 720p | $1.465 | $2.93 | ~34 s |
| ext 1080p | $1.71 | $3.42 | ~29 s |
| ext 4K | $3.47 | $6.94 | ~14 s |
For a first test, start on Mini 480p: $0.136 per 5-second clip, so $10 covers 73 drafts; the shortest 4-second clip is $0.1088, or 91 runs for $10.
Monthly budget for 100 ten-second clips
| Plan | 1,000 s / month |
|---|---|
| All Mini 720p | $58.60 |
| All ext 720p | $134 |
| All Fast 720p | $177.20 |
| All standard 720p | $293 |
| All ext 1080p | $342 |
If every finished clip takes three tries, go two-stage: draft on Mini 480p (3 × 10 s × $0.0272 = $0.816), then render the keeper on ext 1080p ($3.42). That is $423.60 for 100 finished clips, against $1,368 when the three tries and the final all run on ext 1080p, about 69% less.
How to pick the cheapest tier
- Prompt tuning and bulk drafts: Mini 480p at $0.0272/s.
- Social clips you post as-is: start on Mini 720p; if the motion or hands are not right, try the same prompt on Fast and keep the better take.
- 1080p or 4K finals: the ext route, $0.342/s at 1080p and $0.694/s at 4K, about half (47%) of the standard rate at the same resolution.
- Motion or camera from a reference video: standard (or Fast / Mini); the ext route does not accept reference videos.
- 480p: Mini, Fast or standard; ext has no 480p.
- 720p without a reference video: both standard and ext work, and ext is $0.159/s cheaper.
Switching to ext is one extra line, "route": "ext"; the model name stays the same:
{
"model": "seedance-2.0",
"route": "ext",
"input": {
"prompt": "...",
"resolution": "1080p",
"duration": 10,
"aspect_ratio": "16:9",
"generate_audio": true
}
}
FAQ
Does audio cost extra?
No. generate_audio is on by default and the rate is the same with it on or off.
Do Mini, Fast and standard take the same parameters?
They are close: all support first/last frames and reference media, and the main difference is resolution (Mini and Fast top out at 720p, standard goes to 4K). Input combinations follow each model's docs: on Mini, first frame, reference images and reference videos are mutually exclusive, and duration and resolution are required; on standard, aspect_ratio is required.
Standard or ext for 1080p?
Use ext unless you need a reference video: $0.342/s against $0.729/s on standard. Reference-video jobs have to run on standard.
Am I charged for failed generations?
No. Failed tasks are refunded automatically; you only pay for seconds that were generated.
