Kling 3.0 vs Veo 3.1: Pricing, Specs, and Which to Choose (2026)

Pick Kling if you're budget-sensitive. Pick Veo if you need the highest ceiling for quality and audio. That's the clearest split between the two.

Kling 3.0 (from Kuaishou) and Veo 3.1 (from Google) take two different product paths among text-to-video APIs today. Kling comes in two tiers, Turbo and Omni, and focuses on value and flexible mixes of resolution and audio. Veo comes in Fast and flagship versions, and focuses on native audio and a higher quality ceiling. We have tested both models on HiAPI, and both use the same /v1/tasks async task API. You create a task, poll its status, and fetch the result with one flow, so you don't need to adapt to two separate SDKs. This article puts the pricing, resolution tiers, and audio billing of both models side by side to help you decide which tier fits your current project. The right choice depends on your budget and quality needs. Neither model is better in every case.

Entry Tier: Kling 3.0 Turbo vs Veo 3.1 Fast

Both entry tiers focus on fast output and low unit prices, which suits bulk asset production. Kling 3.0 Turbo supports text-to-video and image-to-video, with 3-15 second clips at two resolution tiers, 720p and 1080p. It includes ambient sound effects with no separate toggle, and the audio is already in the price.

Veo 3.1 Fast also supports text-to-video and image-to-video. It has two platform resolution tiers, hd and 4k. Whether audio is generated depends on the resolution value you pick, "with audio" or "no audio", so it works like an optional toggle.

Resolution tiers720p, 1080phd, 4k
AudioBuilt-in ambient sound, included in priceOptional; with and without audio are priced differently
Starting price$0.13/sec (720p)$0.17/sec (hd, no audio); $0.25/sec with audio
Top-tier price$0.16/sec (1080p)$0.5/sec (4k, no audio); $0.6/sec with audio

Note: Kling's resolution tiers are standard pixel sizes. Veo's hd and 4k are internal platform names. The two scales don't map one-to-one, so comparing prices is clearer than comparing tiers. These figures are current as of October 2026. Check the HiAPI pricing page for the latest numbers before you order.

Flagship Tier: Kling 3.0 Omni vs Veo 3.1

If image quality and delivery quality matter more, go with the flagship tier. Kling 3.0 Omni makes audio a separate toggle. Without audio, 720p starts as low as $0.10/sec, and adding audio brings it to $0.143/sec. At 1080p, it's $0.129/sec without audio and $0.193/sec with audio. The top 4K tier is $0.479/sec. (The docs don't currently state whether the 4K tier supports synced audio. Go by the live data on the HiAPI pricing page.) The flagship Veo 3.1 also prices audio separately at its hd and 4k tiers: hd is $0.29/sec without audio and $0.57/sec with audio, and 4k is $0.57/sec without audio and $0.86/sec with audio. Of the two, it has the higher ceiling for both quality and price.

Key Differences

On coverage, both Kling tiers, Turbo and Omni, cover text-to-video and image-to-video, and Omni also supports reference-image generation. Veo's Fast and flagship tiers have a similar structure. The core differences are the resolution ceiling and how audio is billed. Neither model has an obvious gap in basic generation modes.

On integration, both models use the same /v1/tasks async task API on HiAPI: submit a task to get a task_id, poll its status until it reaches a final state, then get the download link from the returned output. To switch from Kling to Veo, or to run both models in an A/B test, you mostly just swap the model field and the matching input parameters. You don't need to learn a new API.

On price, Kling is generally cheaper than Veo at comparable resolution tiers. Kling Omni without audio, at $0.10/sec, is the lowest price of the two. But Veo offers 4K + audio delivery on its flagship tier at $0.86/sec, with a higher ceiling for resolution and audio quality than Kling. Pick Kling if you're budget-sensitive and running volume. Pick Veo if you want the highest quality per clip. That's the clearest dividing line between the two.

How to Choose

When to choose Kling 3.0

  • You're budget-sensitive and need high-volume output, such as a short-video asset library or daily social posts
  • You want ambient sound effects without paying for audio separately (Turbo tier)
  • Your quality needs fall in the 720p-1080p range, and 4K isn't a hard requirement

When to choose Veo 3.1

  • You need 4K delivery, or you have hard quality requirements for promo videos or ad creatives
  • You need consistent audio quality and are willing to pay more for the with-audio tier
  • Each clip has high value, and you're not relying on volume to spread costs

FAQ

Which is cheaper, Kling 3.0 or Veo 3.1?

Kling is cheaper at comparable resolution tiers. Kling 3.0 Omni without audio goes as low as $0.10/sec. Veo 3.1's entry tier also starts higher than Kling's entry tier. See the two tables above for exact numbers.

Is Veo 3.1 audio free?

No. Veo bills audio through two resolution values, "with audio" and "no audio", priced separately. With audio costs more than without. See the tables for the price difference.

How do I choose between Kling 3.0 Turbo and Omni?

Turbo is simpler. Audio is already in the price, so it suits cases where you don't want to manage an audio toggle. Omni has finer tiers and bills audio separately, so it suits cases where you need precise cost control.

Can I call both Kling and Veo through HiAPI?

Yes. Both models use the same /v1/tasks async task API on HiAPI, with the same auth and polling logic. Switching models mostly means changing the model field and the matching parameters.

Will the prices in this article go out of date?

Yes. The prices here are current as of October 2026, and model pricing may change. Check the HiAPI pricing page for the latest numbers before you order.

Conclusion

If budget is your first concern, or you need to produce short-video assets in bulk, Kling 3.0 (Turbo or Omni) is the cheaper choice. If your project has hard requirements for quality ceiling, 4K delivery, or audio quality, the flagship Veo 3.1 offers a higher ceiling. Both models are verified on HiAPI and use the same API. To compare results directly, see call examples for both models in the HiAPI docs. Run the same prompt once on Kling and once on Veo, look at the actual output, and then decide.
