The four images looked good at first glance. Then the poster had one extra SHIFT, and the shoe pointed the wrong way.
We gave GPT Image 2.5 Flare and Nano Banana Pro the same poster prompt and trail-shoe prompt. Flare wrote the headline once and pointed the shoe left; Nano Banana Pro added a second SHIFT and pointed the shoe right. For these two jobs, start with Flare. This is a practical choice for these visible constraints, not a claim that Flare wins every task.
The poster required one exact headline, NIGHT SHIFT, one date, 18 OCT · 8 PM, and no other words, plus an orange-jacket cyclist, violet reflections, and an amber train.
Full prompt used for both models:
Design a square poster for a fictional night photography festival. Exact headline: NIGHT SHIFT. Exact date line: 18 OCT · 8 PM. A lone cyclist in a vivid orange rain jacket crosses a wet elevated street at blue hour; violet storefront reflections and a distant amber train create strong depth. Bold modern typography integrated into the composition, headline dominant and date clearly legible. Editorial art direction, cinematic but believable, no other words, no brand marks, no watermark.

Flare’s first output shows NIGHT SHIFT once, with the date readable. The cyclist, wet street, reflections, and train are present.

Nano Banana Pro’s first output keeps the date and scene, but places NIGHT SHIFT at the top and another SHIFT underneath.
The extra word breaks the text hierarchy: one approved headline becomes two title areas. A designer now has to remove or cover it, rebalance the space, and check the repair around the cyclist and reflections. Flare’s saved output needs less copy-level repair. Nano may do better on another attempt; this first image is not ready under the stated text rule.
The second brief required one original trail-running sneaker, toe pointing left, coral mesh, charcoal overlays, a translucent lime lugged outsole, an off-white seamless background, and a soft grounded shadow.

Create a square premium e-commerce product photograph of one original trail-running sneaker, three-quarter side view with the toe pointing left. The shoe has a vivid coral mesh upper, charcoal overlays, two visible laces crossing the tongue, and a translucent lime outsole with a distinct lug pattern. Set it on an off-white seamless backdrop with a soft grounded shadow and directional studio light. One shoe only, no feet, no text, no logo, no props.

Flare’s first output has one shoe with the toe pointing left. The requested palette, outsole, backdrop, and shadow are visible.

Nano Banana Pro’s first output has the requested product feel and palette, but the toe points right.
For a catalogue, direction is part of the asset specification. A right-facing product can break a row, force a crop, or require a rebuild even when the product looks polished. Flare’s output meets this direction check; Nano’s needs correction. The phrase “two visible laces crossing the tongue” is ambiguous, so neither shoe receives a perfect pass on that detail.
For the poster text and shoe direction shown here, start with GPT Image 2.5 Flare. If a creative brief leaves text and layout open, Nano Banana Pro remains reasonable for a different artistic direction.

There was no reference image, prompt edit, cherry-picking, or shared seed. “1K” is the requested tier, not a promise of identical output pixels. Four images cannot establish average quality, speed, consistency, or future success probability.
Copy the poster prompt and replace the headline and date, or copy the shoe prompt and replace the product and direction. Run it in the Flare Playground and Nano Banana Pro Playground. Change NIGHT SHIFT or toe pointing left to your hard requirement, then inspect every text block and the product’s facing direction.

For a concept image, that may be enough. Mirroring a real product can reverse text, logos, and asymmetric construction. Use a reference image and a separate edit when those details matter.
