TL;DR
- FLUX.3 Image (
flux-3-image), Black Forest Labs' October 2026 image model, is billed per image on HiAPI: $0.041 at 768, $0.048 at 1K (default), $0.07 at 1.5K, $0.10 at 2K, and $0.607 at 4K. That matches Black Forest Labs' own list price. - Text-to-image and editing with up to 10 reference images cost the same. References and web grounding add nothing.
- $10 buys about 208 images at 1K. FLUX.3 Image is live on HiAPI: open the model page and generate in the browser. New accounts get 200 free credits.

Live HiAPI prices, checked October 15, 2026.
Each task returns one image, and you pay only when it succeeds. The tier sets a pixel budget rather than a fixed edge length: a 4:3 image at 1K comes back at 1184×880.
What $0.048 gets you
The default 1K tier, 4:3:

A refined still life photograph of a miniature terracotta architectural model
on ivory paper, a warm brass desk lamp, a sprig of olive leaves and a charcoal
pencil, precise shadows and soft late-afternoon sunlight, restrained
design-magazine composition, no text.

Which resolution to pay for
- 768 ($0.041): thumbnails, social tests, and quick checks on a prompt. Only $0.007 less than 1K, so most people skip it.
- 1K ($0.048): the default and the best value for web images and drafts.
- 1.5K ($0.07) and 2K ($0.10): product pages, headers, and anything you'll crop.
- 4K ($0.607): print and large-format work. One 4K image costs as much as about twelve at 1K, so lock the prompt at 1K first, then re-run the keeper at 4K.
FLUX.3 Image vs other image APIs on HiAPI
| Model | 1K price | Highest tier | Reference images |
|---|---|---|---|
FLUX.3 Image flux-3-image | $0.048 | 4K $0.607 | Up to 10, same model id |
FLUX.2 Pro flux-2/text-to-image | $0.05 (1 MP) | 4 MP $0.125 | Separate edit endpoint, up to 8 |
FLUX 1.1 Pro flux-1.1-pro | $0.05 | — | — |
GPT Image 2 gpt-image-2/text-to-image | $0.03 | 4K $0.06 | Separate edit endpoint |
Nano Banana 2.1 gemini-nano-banana-2.1 | $0.022 | 4K $0.058 | Up to 10 |
Muse Image muse-image-1.0/text-to-image | $0.015 flat | ~2.5 MP fixed | Separate edit endpoint, up to 10 |
What this means:
- At 1K, FLUX.3 Image costs about the same as FLUX.2 Pro and gives you text-to-image and editing on one model id.
- For high-volume, low-cost generation, Muse Image ($0.015) or Nano Banana 2.1 ($0.022) cost less than half as much per image.
- 4K is where FLUX.3 Image gets expensive. If you need 4K in bulk, GPT Image 2 ($0.06) and Nano Banana 2.1 ($0.058) are about a tenth of the price.
Side-by-side outputs are in FLUX.3 Image vs FLUX.2.
Ways to spend less
- Iterate at 1K: lock the composition for $0.048 a try, then re-run the final at 2K or 4K.
- Always set
resolution: it defaults to 1K, and a stray4Kturns a $0.048 test into $0.607. - Edit instead of regenerating: pass the image you like as a reference with a short change list. It costs the same as a fresh image and keeps the parts you already like.
FAQ
Do reference images cost extra?
No. You can pass up to 10, and the price depends only on the resolution tier.
Does grounding (web search) cost extra?
No. grounding is on by default and doesn't change the price.
Am I charged for failed tasks?
No. You pay only for images that generate successfully.
Is the HiAPI price higher than Black Forest Labs' own?
No. All five tiers match Black Forest Labs' list price, and you get the same API key and billing as every other model on HiAPI.
