Pick Mirelo SFX 2.0 when you want an uncompressed WAV that goes straight into an edit timeline or a game engine. Pick ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 when you need very short UI cues and a lower rate per second.
Both models are live on HiAPI. Open Mirelo SFX 2.0 for one 1–30 second WAV from a written description, or open ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 for an MP3 from a description plus a length. New accounts get 200 credits on sign-up.
The differences at a glance
| Mirelo SFX 2.0 | ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Input fields | prompt + duration | prompt + duration_seconds |
| How length is set | Integer 1–30 seconds, default 5 | Seconds requested in duration_seconds |
| Output format | WAV | MP3 |
| Sample rate and channels | 48 kHz / mono | 44.1 kHz / 128 kbps / stereo |
| Price per second | $0.0215 | $0.0029 |
| Price for 5 seconds | $0.1075 | $0.0145 |
| What 5 seconds actually delivers | 5.00 seconds | 5.04 seconds (5 requested) |
The split runs deeper than price. Mirelo SFX 2.0 hands back a whole-second mono WAV and puts all the control in the description; ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 hands back a stereo MP3 and takes the length as a plain number of seconds.
One description, one run on each
The description is the rainy metal roof, submitted once per model, with 5 seconds requested on both:
Heavy rain at night on a corrugated metal roof, dense overlapping droplets, distant rolling thunder, water running into a gutter, close-to-mid perspective, steady ambience with no music and no voices.

| Delivered at 5.00 seconds | Delivered at 5.04 seconds (5 requested) |
| WAV, PCM 16-bit / 48 kHz / mono | MP3, 44.1 kHz / 128 kbps / stereo |

The same description, generated once on each.
Use this prompt → The link fills the description only; set duration to 5 seconds after it opens, and set 5 seconds on the ElevenLabs side too.
The audible difference is concrete: the Mirelo take is an uncompressed mono WAV and the ElevenLabs take is a lossy stereo MP3, and the same description produces different rain density and a different thunder placement on the two. Listen to both on headphones; pick by the format your downstream needs.
Which one for which job
- Film foley headed into a mix session → Mirelo SFX 2.0, which ships a 48 kHz WAV and skips one lossy step.
- Impacts, footsteps and mechanisms in a game engine → Mirelo SFX 2.0, where whole-second lengths line up with event lengths.
- Short, punchy UI cues → ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 at $0.0029 per second, so a long audition pass stays small.
- A full 10–30 second ambience bed → Mirelo SFX 2.0, where "steady ambience" in the description returns the whole stretch in one request.
- A long sound spec that has to be reviewed word by word → Mirelo SFX 2.0, with 2,000 characters to write it in.
- One MP3 straight into a timeline → ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2, with no transcoding step.
What does switching cost?
Very little. Both models run on POST https://api.hiapi.ai/v1/tasks with the same API key, and both return results through GET https://api.hiapi.ai/v1/tasks/{taskId}. Two things change:
model:mirelo-sfx-2.0orelevenlabs/sound-effects-v2.input: the length field has a different name. Mirelo SFX 2.0 usesdurationin whole seconds from 1 to 30; ElevenLabs Sound Effects v2 usesduration_seconds.
A pipeline already sending duration_seconds only needs to round it to a whole number and rename the key. Going the other way, send the requested seconds in duration_seconds.
